About the Artist
Corbie Draws ordinary things. A door left open. A pot kept running. Bread torn for six. After being diagnosed with a brain injury, she started creating art again. She releases collections in series called plates. The plates are numbered, and the numbers are not in the order she posts them in. She does this on purpose, and it is the only hint you get.
Corbie's favorite thing as a child was listening to stories about her babu and dedu and she learned her love of folklore from her Ukrainian family. As an artist she thinks about images that represent those feelings of being lost inside of a tale. The small symbol a person can carry with them. Something to hold on to when the world feels a little further and further from home.
Everything in the shop is drawn by her hand on a tablet, and the stickers are designed thoughtfully one at a time.
The shop is new, and what it earns is going toward her PHD and supports her community wellbeing. Thank you for being here early.
The kettle is usually on. We've set a place.
